VFX experiments

ROLE: All production and design tasks using MAYA and AFTER EFFECTS. I made extensive use of Maya ncloth, nparticles, MASH, Arnold surfacing and lighting. Compositing and additional VFX elements with After Effects

NOTE: This project was the recipient of a Baker Artist award in Baltimore in 2022 and the video was displayed in a gallery show for the award winners at the Peale Museum, the oldest museum building in the United States. Exploration of visual effects techniques used as a fine art medium. The repeated erosion and layering of commercial signage on a billboard that has been in use for many years, but fallen into decay, revealing many layers of different images like tree rings or Strata in a rock, was the inspiration visually. However, the time is fast forwarded so we can watch the process evolve. It is a meditation on impermanence and the beauty of chance. NO AI WAS USED, only traditional visual effects techniques that I learned working on movies and TV. 


Forward Magic I

ROLE: 3D and post using MAYA and AFTER EFFECTS. AI using PIXVERSE. Upscale and post with TOPAZ.

NOTE: This video was made in 2025 using AI to animate 3d still renders I created 2020-2021. Sound also by AI.

NOTE: In 2025 have finally returned aesthetically to where I started as an artist, scribbled lines. However, the process is much more complicated than using a pencil or even prompting an AI for that matter. You would have to know what you are doing with MAYA and AFTER EFFECTS to re-create this. VFX TUNNEL EXPERIENCE

ROLE: MAYA 3d modeling, Look Development, Animation, VFX. AFTER EFFECTS Compositing, Post

NOTE: This project was begun with 500 10 sec 3d animated clips, made and posted daily from 2020 into 2021. The best clips were arranged into one movie and extensively revised in post, in 2024. This is intended for projection. Music:“No Pussyfooting” by Fripp and Eno
