NETFLIX "KULIPARI" ANIMATED FEATURE pitch

CLIENT: NETFLIX (Los Gatos CA)

ROLE: MAYA previs, CFX, contributed to VFX, rigging, character modeling, and animation; ZBRUSH sculpting; NUKE color grading, compositing. Onsite work in Baltimore.

NOTE: The project is a teaser for a 3d feature adaptation of the 2d animated Netflix series.

ROLE: 3D Lead. I performed all 3D tasks on this project using MAYA and ZBRUSH. Compositing with AFTER EFFECTS. Textures and Matte painting with PHOTOSHOP. Remote work.

NOTE: This was made to support a pitch for a feature film, updating “The Wind in the Willows” classic animation using CGI but retaining a stop motion feel.


pixelsgarden "Bon Bon" Studio promo film

CLIENT: PIXELSGARDEN (Vietnam)

ROLE: 3D Lead. I performed all 3d production and 2D post tasks for this look development test using MAYA , ZBRUSH, PHOTOSHOP, and AFTER EFFECTS. Remote/onsite hybrid work. I went to Vietnam to kick off work on this!

NOTE: The project was a studio promo animated short intended to achieve Western CGI production values for the local market. The character was 3D modeled and animated in 3-D with no fur, in a simple setting with just the branches it interacts with. It was fully pre-visualized and animated in 3-D then AI was used as style transfer to create the final render based on this single fully realized frame with 3d fur groomed and full geometry foliage with volumetric light in the background. This was a vast time savings because this single frame took an hour to render.

CLIENT: DIRT EMPIRE (NYC)

ROLE: I modeled, surfaced, rigged, and posed the characters using MAYA, sculping with ZBRUSH, textures with PHOTOSHOP.

NOTE: These assets were made in 2008 for photoreal integration into an independant live action feature film drama called “Two gates of sleep”, which was a selection of Cannes Directors Fortnight. They were used far from the camera in dark lighting so they didn't have to be that detailed. At the time suitable premade assets were not available for cheap, so they had me do it, as part of doing the complete VFX for the shots the characters were used in. Because it was an art film being directed by a friend from RISD, I lowered my rate and wore many hats.


Minyanville episodic assets

CLIENT: HAPPYCORP (NYC)

ROLE: 3D Lead. I did look development, lighting, 3d modeling, riigging, and animation with MAYA, sculpting with ZBRUSH, textures and 2d post with PHOTOSHOP. I did NOT do the facial rigs. Remote work.

NOTES: These characters hosted the “Minyanville” TV show on FOXBusiness that ran for over 1000 weekly episodes. I created this animation by hand for the show’s pitch, including the lip sync, but motion capture animation was used for the TV episodes and I was not involved in the series production.

NOTE: This is a look development test for the print image which was used on the physical cover of the video game “Gengi” published by Sony

NOTE: This animation was embedded in a website for Motorola mobile phones. Each character personified a different market segment with unique use cases for phones.

ROLE: MAYA generalist. All polygonal modelling, keyframe animation, look dev, CFX. I contributed to MAYA VFX, 3d motion graphics, 2d compositing with AFTER EFFECTS . Onsite work in NYC.

NOTES: The first 2:30 shows the video that was projected during the performance. In the live broadcast they mostly showed close ups on Beyonce and had lots of cuts, so I made this edit to allow you to see the whole video/dance as it was performed live.

NOTES: These clips were made for an advanced flash website that allowed users to interact with numerous multimedia components in an alternate reality game, but ultimately it was an advertisement for Sprite.


"BUBBLE Trubble" VFX FEATURE

CLIENT: GMD THREE (NYC)

ROLE: 3D CFX generalist. I Modeled, rigged, surfaced, lit, and animated virtual prosthetics to be used in over 100 shots in an independent Science Fiction movie, using MAYA and ZBRUSH. Performed all 2D post tasks for photo real integration and tracking, Post VFX: AFTER EFFECTS. Work was performed on site in NYC.

NOTE: I did all the 3D CFX and compositing of the prosthesis in the shots used in the film’s teaser trailer as proof of concept. This image is a production test frame. The final shot production work was handled by other artists using my model and rig.

NOTES: Vimeo staff pick. This project was shot on 8mm B&W film. The actor is Cat Stevens’ son Yoriyos, who also write and performed the soundtrack.
